• The Third Stray

  • Sometime in late summer. Cooper, the kindhearted lady's neighborhood ginger cat, whispered in another neighborhood cat's ear that a new home for a  cat had just opened up.  Another local cat, that had acquired the name Jamie, attempted to make it his home for the good food and kindhearted lady's attention failed in his quest to get adopted when it was discovered he already had a home.  Getting inferior treatment was not an adoptable reason for the kindhearted lady to take him in permanently, although he could still count on the occasional, or dare I say "daily", treats at the garden door.  He thought it was cheeky as he had already agreed to several vet visits which included shots and some other unmentionables.

So Cooper came up with a strategy on how to get an invitation into the kindhearted lady's home.  It was known that Jamie would occasionally get locked out of the garden side of his home and would cry at the lady's door until she let him walk through to the garden door.  So Copper practiced with the cat to mimic Jamie's meow.  Then Cooper waited at the end of the walkway while the cat, rang the doorbell with her imitation Jamie meow.  It worked!

When she saw the kindheartedly lady open her front door she made a beeline for the inside and immediately settled in hoping no one would notice her.  Now the resident cat, Abi, wasn't pleased (as you can sort of see in the photo)

The kindhearted lady was delighted to have another possible stray that needed a home and this cat  was so cuddly, unlike the resident cat that had more allergies and attitude than any one cat should be allowed. During the early days with the kind hearted lady, the cat discovered she had a name..Camille.  How had she lived so long and not have known.  The cat, Camille, acting on Cooper's advice, gave the lady lots of cuddles and love: and, used the litter box.  So the kindhearted lady scheduled another vet visit to make certain this one didn't also have a home, as she was the third stray, Jamie and Albert being the first two, to attempt adoption.

Tada ...the vet declared Camille chip-less and in need of a home... with a minor "complication", Camille was about 10 days from delivering kittens.

With the announcement the pregnancy,  the kindhearted lady hit drama, a rare condition for her!  A pet sitter was hired to check on Camille while she worked and it was decided Camille should move to the animal hospital to deliver her kittens.  Somehow that didn't work out.

Camille took up residence in a spare bedroom to protect the resident cat form any unknown illnesses.  But still resident cat had Camille biting her nails and sleeping with one eye open, after just a few days of sharing the villa. She just couldn't settle down around the resident cat. So the kind-hearted lady moved her into her own suite, the unused maid's quarters. Now she could get the rest she needed and resident cat could go back to her false belief that the stranger cat was gone for good. The kindhearted lady decided Camille was just nervous about the impending birth, and after the kittens’ birth, the two cats would develop a loving relationship. Much to the delight of the kind hearted lady's mother, a web cam was set so across the world, Camille could be watched anytime regardless of timezone.

As in all births the exact delivery didn't happen on the 10th day.  Now the kindhearted lady had a trip planned to New Zealand and was reasonably worried about leaving her newest child to deliver by herself. Camille merely meowed and cuddled.

A new blue bed (small house) was purchased for Camille.  Now she had never had her own bed before. My how different life looked after stepping inside the kind hearted lady's home, from the perilous streets of Dubai, she now had her own suite, her own bed, good meals and most importantly love and attention from the kind hearted lady.  She couldn't get enough pets. What a different experience her babies would have in their new world.

  • Copper Said to snuggle.

    Boy this feels really good!

  • The Resident Cat

  • How many kitties could there be?

  • As Camille awaited the birth of the babies she made herself at home, finding new places to hide and new things to sniff.

  • Right - Family. members camped out on the kindhearted lady's patio waiting for word of the birth, or maybe hoping for treats.

Left - New home purchased for the soon to be family.
