Lucky awakes me with coffee in my tent with a basin of water, a substitute for a shower.  The coffee is always welcome! Today we hike from Forest Camp to Shira Ridge Camp about an 8 hour hike, it will be one of the longest days.  We will ascent to 11,500 feet. 

Today we move out of the forest into the heath.  We will hike through 5 vegetative zones in this hike. We saw wild gladiolas, black ant nests made of mud hanging in trees, the colobus monkey at a distance, portia protea plants and St. John's Wart.  At one point in the hike, we could see ahead where the porters were making our lunch.  They were singing or chanting as they worked.  the hike today left me nauseous and light headed; and the temperature has dropped significantly.
